The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage-Lok Virsa will be presenting the play, “Giraah” (knot), in collaboration with the award-winning theatre troupe Curtain Raiser Productions (CRP).
Written by Imran Khan, whose works include, Mein Haan Waaris and Sarisht, the play has already won many accolades such as the awards for ‘Best Play’ and ‘Best Script’ at the All Pakistan Performing Arts Festival and has been staged at many venue across the country including the Pakistan National Council of Arts.
Directed by theatre artist Muhammad Ali Farooqi who also acts in the drama, the thriller play is set in a mental asylum. Writer Ummara Sheraz while speaking to a media outlet said that the reasons for asylum patients’ madness “include not doing enough, and doing too much, from listening and being deceived, to not listening at all.” She further adds that the “play addresses our own unwillingness to push for resolution and reform in society.”
According to Lok Virsa, the event would be held at their Rooftop Auditorium and strict covid-19 SOPs will be in place.
Muhammad Ali Farooqi, Imran, Abrar Bazmi, Shehryar Shahid, Tahir Inqalab Syed, Zain Tariq Sahi and Bushra Yamin will be starring in the drama.
