The third visual art exhibition opened at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall, on Tuesday.

Organised by the Lahore Arts Council (LAC), the national exhibition was jointly inaugurated by veteran artist Saeed Akhtar, Moneeza Hashmi, Chairperson Alhamra and Executive Director of the Lahore Arts Council, Ijaz Ahmad Minhas.

Talking to APP, Minhas said that the LAC was determined to support art and artists depicting contemporary concerns and cultural roots.

148 artworks by more than a 100 artists, which include artwork from the celebrated Jamil Naqsh, Ismail Gulgee and Iqbal Hussain are being exhibited. The LAC has also published a catalogue on the displayed works.

The show also features artwork by new, emerging artists working independently or representing various art institutions. Speaking to Dawn news, renowned visual artist Dr Ajaz Anwar said the council had put up such a comprehensive display after many years.

The exhibition will remain open for 10 days and it will conclude on Nov 26.
