Pakistan has reported a total of 240 fresh infections due to coronavirus in the last hours, while the positivity rate was recorded at 0.73 per cent. Around 32,466 tests were conducted and the count of active cases in the country has further dropped to 22,791.

Meanwhile, 6 more people lost their lives to the virus, taking the count of nationwide death toll to 28,612, as per latest figures shared by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

The number of covid-19 patients in critical care has come down to 1,111.

  • Punjab: 103 cases, 1 death
  • Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa: 56 cases, 5 deaths
  • Sindh: 50 cases
  • Islamabad: 26 cases
  • Balochistan: 3 cases
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 2 cases

NCOC announces to temporarily suspend vaccination of children

NCOC has temporarily suspended covid-19 vaccination of children aged 12 to 15 years from Monday.

In an announcement, the NCOC said that the vaccination for children between 12-15 years will remain suspended from November 15 to 27 due to the national Measles and Rubella (MR) vaccination drive.

It stated that the national MR campaign will be conducted from November 15 to 27 during which children aged 9 months to 15 years will be inoculated.

Global case load

Globally, the covid-19 caseload has crossed 253.2 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 5.10 million and vaccinations soared to over 7.46 billion, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

As per latest figures gathered by the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE), the current global caseload, death toll and the total number number of vaccine doses administered stood at 253,291,318, 5,100,151 and 7,464,233,665, respectively.

The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 47,074,080 and 763,092, according to the CSSE.

The second worst hit country in terms of cases is India (34,437,307 infections and 463,530 deaths), followed by Brazil (21,957,967 infections and 611,283 deaths).

The other worst countries with over 5 million cases are the UK (9,608,568), Russia (8,918,926), Turkey (8,410,136), France (7,389,989), Iran (6,037,718), Argentina (5,305,742), Spain (5,047,156), Germany (5,038,436) and Colombia (5,031,945), the CSSE figures showed.
