Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has started new flight operations from three cities of Pakistan to Fujairah city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The inaugural flight to Fujairah was launched on Monday from Lahore, while flights from Islamabad and Peshawar will begin on Wednesday.
With 296 passengers onboard, the first aircraft ‘PK-243’ of PIA landed at Fujairah International Airport at 10:58 a.m.
The national flag carrier has been increasing its flight operations to the gulf country since the covid-19 restrictions were eased for Pakistan. In August, PIA had launched flights from Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi to the northernmost emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
The airline is already conducting flight operations from all major cities to different emirates of the UAE, which also include Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
PIA, had last month, also resumed its operations in Kuwait and started two weekly flights after the kingdom allowed it to operate following a decade-long suspension due to various reasons.
Meanwhile, PIA also last month acquired an Airbus-320 on dry lease for a period of six years. The new addition is the third aircraft that will be inducted into the airline’s fleet under the incumbent management.
“Another Airbus-320 reached Islamabad International Airport from the French city of Perpignan via Egypt. The aircraft will be inducted into PIA’s fleet in the next few days,” a PIA spokesman announced at the time.
