A week-long awareness campaign about the danger of birds near airports was conducted by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
A PIA spokesman said a safety team visited areas near airports to locate possible bird feeding grounds and to inform people and authorities about the potential hazards. During the campaign people were asked to keep areas free of garbage to keep the population of birds such as eagles and crows in check.
The seminars were held in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
Bird strikes pose a serious risk to aircraft and flight safety, cause flight delays and result in huge costs for airlines.
In Pakistan this year, 66 bird hit occurrences have been faced by PIA alone.
