Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture, sports and Tourism Department is executing four state of the art trekking and hiking projects worth Rs. 11 billion among several initiatives to attract local and foreign tourists.

The improved infrastructure will make remote, hilly areas more accessible. The department is constructing roads connecting Kalam to Kumrat, Auon to Kalash, Bamborait to Ramboor Valley, and Chitral to Garam Chashma.

The hiking trails will extend from Thandiani to Nathia and Bara Gali, from Dagri Bungalow to Miranjani peak and from Mahnoor valley, Kaghan to Saiful- Malook lake.

An official of the Tourism department said that facilities like rest houses and toilets would also be available on these routes. The tourism and culture department is also taking steps to protect the culture of the indigenous people of the Kalash valley.

The KP government has set up check posts at tourist spots to ensure safety and deployed traffic police on busier roads to facilitate tourists.
