Pakistan has reported a total of 955 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, while the positivity rate was recorded at 2.14 per cent. Around 44,557 tests were conducted, and the active case count has now reached 43,352.
Among the active cases, 2,644 patients are still in critical condition.
Meanwhile, 29 more people los their lives to the virus, taking the nationwide death toll to 28,087, as per latest figures shared by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC).
The total confirmed case count since the pandemic began last year has now reached 1,257,188. In addition to this, 1,222 patients have recovered from virus in the last 24 hours across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,185,749.

- Gilgit-Baltistan: 3 cases
- Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 10 cases
In KP, around 161 patients are under treatment for coronavirus. Out of these 99 corona patients are admitted in Hayatabad Medical Complex while 62 are under treatment in Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar.
Corona vaccination drive continues in Quetta
Vaccination against coronavirus was underway in the provincial capital Quetta on the instructions of National Command and Control Center (NCOC).
As per reports, mobile teams of WAPDA Hospital Quetta provided vaccination facility to the worshipers in different mosques of the city after Friday prayers while many volunteers were vaccinated.
Us will accept WHO-approved covid-19 vaccines for international visitors
The United States has decided to accept covid-19 vaccines approved by US regulators or the World Health Organization for international visitors, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced.
A CDC spokeswoman told Reuters that around “six vaccines that are FDA authorized/approved or listed for emergency use by WHO will meet the criteria for travel to the US”.
Global case load
Globally, the coronavirus caseload has crossed 237.2 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 4.84 million and vaccinations soared to over 6.42 billion, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
As per latest data gathered by the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE), the current global caseload, death toll and the total number number of vaccine doses administered stood at 237,210,769, 4,841,912 and 6,424,300,847, respectively.
The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 44,288,729 and 712,693, according to the CSSE.
In terms of infections, India follows in the second place with 33,915,569 cases.
The other worst countries with over 3 million cases are Brazil (21,550,730), the UK (8,119,406), Russia (7,602,386), Turkey (7,387,507), France (7,147,186), Iran (5,683,980), Argentina (5,265,058), Spain (4,973,619), Colombia (4,969,131), Italy (4,695,291), Germany (4,305,634), Indonesia (4,225,871) and Mexico (3,707,234), the CSSE figures showed.
