The National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC), Pakistan has appointed actor and philanthropist Ahsan Khan as goodwill ambassador.
Established by the federal government in 2020, the NCRC aims to create a “protective society for children” through “comprehensive legislative, institutional and social reforms on child rights.”
Khan announced the news on Instagram and Twitter. “I am proud to be part of the great NCRC initiative,” he wrote. “Protecting the rights of our children is protecting our future. Neglect, cruelty, unfairness, injustice and abuse damage the minds and hearts of children destined to take over our nation as they attain adulthood. It is profoundly irresponsible — and downright immoral — to leave the future in the hands of individuals whose souls have been damaged by the denial of love, respect, protection, education, dignity and justice.”
The actor went on to say that children’s rights must be protected at all costs for the “sake of humanity” because not doing so makes people “bad human beings” and “bad muslims.” The actor’s message was greeted with much praise as celebrities flocked to social media platforms to congratulate him. Actors Hira Mani, Aijaz Aslam, Humayun Saeed, Fahad Mustafa, Adnan Siddiqui and Juggun Kazim replied to Khan’s post on Instagram.
“Congratulations Ahsan Khan, you are definitely the best choice for this cause. Keep it up,” wrote Fahad Mustafa.

Khan, who currently hosts a talk show on Express TV, had garnered much praise for his performance in the 2016 Pakistani drama serial Udaari that dealt with the issue of child sexual abuse. In 2018, he was nominated for ‘Best Film Actor’ at the Lux Style Awards for his role in the film Chupan Chupai.
