The Sindh government has started radio broadcasts in three major cities for the awareness of farmers of the province.

Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Agriculture Manzoor Hussain Wassan told Dawn news on Friday that the broadcasts have started in Hyderabad, Larkana and Khairpur.

The one hour radio programs will be focused on agriculture and would feature discussions on weather, water use, suitable crops, methods of cultivation etc., he added.

Mr Wassan said the provincial agriculture department had also started a programme in Tharparkar, Umerkot and Mithi districts to control food shortage and encourage vegetable cultivation. Simple and accessible, radio programs can serve as an effective tool for disseminating information and help farming communities.
