Parliamentary Secretary for Women’s Development, Mahjabeen Sheeran, said that PKR500 million have been allocated for the economic empowerment of women in the 2021-22 budget of Balochistan.

At the inauguration of a new building at the women’s development department on Saturday, she said the department was taking initiatives at divisional and district levels for the betterment of women.

“The government has allocated Rs 500m for the economic empowerment of women in the Public Sector Development Programme for the current financial year, which will do wonders for uplifting women in the province.”

“We are also going to establish digital libraries for women,” she added.

Six women facilitation centres will also be set up in the central jails of Balochistan to address the difficulties faced by women in Balochistan’s jails.

The parliamentary secretary said the provincial government was also taking a number of initiatives to ensure access to education for girls.
