The Lahore Arts Council (LAC) will hold a 10-day theatre festival (July 26- Aug 4) at the Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall.
The event titled Alhamra Theater Festival will feature parallel theatre groups including Azad Theatre, Mass Theatre and Ajoka.
The festival will be the first major performing art event after the Covid related restrictions are relaxed by the government. The theatre groups will be rehearsing at Alhamra.
LAC Art and Culture Director, Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi said that the week-long event would help revive theatrical activity in the city.
He said the festival would open with a grand ceremony where celebrated writers, poets and intellectuals would be invited.
He said all theatre groups have confirmed their participation in the festival and a detailed schedule of the event would be soon announced.
Recently, a six-day exhibition titled “Balochistan Sphinx” by miniature sculpture artist Ayesha Arshad Shahnawaz concluded at the Alhamra.
The Alhamra complex aims to promote and preserve Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and includes an open air theatre, an art gallery, an art museum and an ‘adabi baithak.’
