Mahnoor Shahzad, the country’s top badminton player, will represent Pakistan in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

She is the first Pakistani woman to rank amongst the top 133 women players in the world.

For the twenty-four-year-old player, this is a “dream come true.” “I can’t believe I will represent Pakistan in the Olympics,” she said while talking to reporters.”

In a joint statement, the Pakistan Olympic Association and Pakistan’s Badminton Federation wished her good luck for the international sporting event.

“ahnoor Shahzad is a top badminton player and deserves to participate in the Olympics,” said Syed Arif Hassan while congratulating the player.

Shahzad was the women’s singles champion at the 2017 Pakistan International tournament. She has competed at the 2014 Asian Games, and 2018 Commonwealth Games. She had been chosen to participate in the summer Olympics last year but had been unable to do so due to the covid-19 pandemic.
