The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has decided to start scheduling covid-19 vaccination of citizens above 18 years of age from June 3, Thursday.
Announcing the news on Twitter, the Planning and Development Minister, Asad Umar said, “In today’s National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) meeting it was decided to start scheduling vaccination of registered 18 plus from Thursday the 3rd of June.”
“With this step the vaccination of all eligible age groups would carried out,” he said, appealing to people to sign up for vaccination as soon as possible.

The registration process for the citizens who are 18 and above started on May 27. People in the age bracket of 19 to 30 years can register themselves by sending CNIC to 1166.
Pakistan reports 4.05 per cent positivity ratio in the last 24 hours
Pakistan reported the lowest ever positivity ratio of 4.5 per cent in almost three months on Monday, after 2,117 new cases emerged during the past 24 hours across the country.
As per the official figures shared by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), about 52,223 tests were conducted during the past 24 hours out of which 2,117 returned positive, taking the total caseload to 921,053 as of today.
A total of 43 deaths were also reported during the same time period, taking the total death toll to 20,779 across country. The number of active cases stands at 56,347 whereas about 607,205 people have recovered from the virus so far.

In the last 24 hours, Punjab has reported 613 coronavirus cases and 17 deaths, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa reported 379 coronavirus cases and 13 deaths, Balochistan recorded 65 new cases and one fatality, Islamabad reported 79 cases and 3 deaths, AJK reported 62 cases and 3 deaths, while Gilgit-Baltistan reported 6 cases.
Educational institutions in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa reopen today
Educational Institutions of public and private sector in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have reopened today for preparation of 10th and 12th grade upcoming examinations.
The NCOC had earlier allowed educational institutions to reopen in districts where the ratio of positive cases of Coronavirus is below 8 per cent.
Educational institutions, however, in two districts of Punjab, including Rahim Yar Khan and Khanewal will remain closed until further orders due to covid-19 positive cases.
Pakistan to receive 5m doses of corona vaccine in June
Pakistan will receive consignments of various covid-19 vaccines in June with over five million doses, ARY News reported.
As per reports, in the first 10 days of June 3.5 million doses of Sinovac, Sinopharm and CanSino vaccines are expected to reach Pakistan. Aside from these Pakistan is also expected to receive two consignments of coronavirus vaccines from COVAX including Oxford AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines.
The news outlet further reported that a shipment of one million doses of Chinese made Sinopharm vaccine, purchased by Pakistan, will reach the country this week.
Punjab vaccinates record 180,000 against covid-19 in a day
Punjab had vaccinated 180,000 people in the last 24 hours setting a new record of vaccination most people in a single day.
So far 3,900,000 people in Punjab have received covid-19 jabs, since the start of the drive in the province.
On Sunday, Asad Umar had stated that over seven million people have been vaccinated in the country, while the number of people getting registered for the vaccination is also increasing day by day.
He had said that so far 11.6 million people have registered themselves to receive covid-19 jabs.

Global case load
Globally, the total number of coronavirus cases has crossed 170 million, while total fatalities have surged to 3,537,835. Till date, 1,864,810,057 (1.86 billion) vaccine doses have been administered across the world.
As per data gathered by the university, the US is the world’s worst-hit country in terms of cases and deaths, as it has so far logged 33,258,623 infections and 594,430 fatalities.
Brazil has the world’s second highest covid-19 death toll, after the United States, and the third largest caseload, following the United States and India.
Meanwhile, India has recorded 27,894, 800 cases as of Monday morning, with 325,972 fatalities. As per the latest reports from local media, the hospitals in India are packed with positive patients and the shortage of oxygen is only intensifying the woes of patients and their relatives.
