The White Tiger (2021)
Based on the 2008 Booker Prize winning novel of the same name by Aravind Adiga, The White Tiger follows Balram Halwai (Adarsh Gourav) a poor Indian villager who moves to Delhi after becoming a chauffeur for an influential landlord’s son Ashok (Rajkumar Rao) and his wife Pinky. Despite the class and caste friction, Balram uses his wit and cunning to rise to the top. A gripping tale about an Indian underdog who beats all odds, The White Tiger is sure to keep you hooked.

A compelling story of two women Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio) and Sofia (Marina de Tavira). Set in 1970 it follows Cleo, a live-in housekeeper in Mexico City who resides with Sofia, Antonio and their four children. When Antonio runs away with his mistress Sofia decides to take a vacation to bond with her family. Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma is a stunning and intimate tale shot in black and white that you do not want to miss.

Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Based on Dream Story, a 1926 novella by Arthur Schnitzler set in Vienna, Eyes Wide Shut transfers the story to 1990’s New York City. The film follows Dr Bill Hartford (Tom Cruise) after his wife (Nicole Kidman) revealed she had contemplated having an affair earlier. Shocked by his wife’s confession, he embarks on a bizarre late-night adventure in Manhattan and ends up infiltrating a secret society. There is always a sense of danger lurking in the background. Director Stanley Kubrick’s last film, Eyes Wide Shut ends up being dream-like sequence of events and is totally captivating.

Shawshank Redemption (1994)
A 1994 American drama film, it is based on Stephen King’s 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is a banker who is arrested for the murders of his wife and her lover despite protesting his innocence. Over the next twenty years in prison he befriends smuggler and fellow inmate Ellis Redding (Morgan Freeman) and becomes part of a money-laundering operation led by the warden Samuel Norton (Bob Gunton). A powerfully moving story, Shawshank Redemption was nominated for seven Academy Awards and is now considered one of the greatest films of all time.
