The government will begin the covid-19 vaccine drive for senior citizens of Pakistan having age above 65 years, and the registration process for vaccine campaign is currently underway. As per latest stats shared by the government, around 180,000 senior citizens have so far registered for the vaccine.
However, this number is being termed as a slow response, as there are eight million senior citizens in Pakistan and only 2.25 per cent of them have registered so far. The registration process for senior citizens began two weeks ago.
The government has urged people to get registered for the vaccine which will be beginning soon, as currently all the health care workers in the country are being vaccinated against the disease. This response can be related to the hesitation many health officials are currently exhibiting, as several health professionals have refused to get vaccinate as well.
Meanwhile, if any senior citizen wants to get registered for the vaccine doses, they can register by sending an SMS from any mobile phone with your CNIC to 1166 or visit nims.nadra.gov.pk to get registered.
Vaccine center and date of appointment be communicated once vaccine arrives, the government had earlier notified.
